Qurbani 2022 – Circulation of False Message re Batley Qurbani

  Back to News

It has come to our attention that there is a message being circulated via WhatsApp advising members of the public that HMC are currently investigating issues surrounding Qurbani orders in Batley during this year’s Eid festival. This message is being attributed to Shaykh Mohmed Benkhelifa with his name written under the message.

We would like to make members of the community aware that this message is false and trying to create undue panic and mischief. HMC has not circulated this message and there is no such investigation taking place. Furthermore, Shaykh Mohamed Benkhelifa (who founded HMC over 20 years ago and left the organisation in 2008), has also confirmed to us this morning, he is not aware where this message has originated and would like to know who is distributing false messages in his name.

Alhamdulillah, due to the huge number of hours undertaken by HMC inspectors and monitors on the 3 days of Eid, all Qurbanis were done correctly under HMC supervision. In terms of shops receiving their Qurbani with the correct stamps and markings, HMC trained personnel carried out a total of 573 spot checks at HMC certified butcheries ensuring compliance to the HMC Qurbani guidelines.

Should you require any further clarity on this matter please feel free to email info@halalhmc.org where a member of the HMC team will be more than happy to help with any queries that you may have.

We thank the entire community for their continued support and hope that collectively we can continue to benefit the community at large.
