MADRASAH EDUCATION PROGRAMMES

  Back to campaigns

HMC has developed a Madrasa Education Programme that informs children and young people about the importance of eating Halal. Through an interactive presentation, delivered by our qualified trainers we empower the next generation with the knowledge to make active choices about what they consume.

Young people today face an appalling decline in physical and mental health. As Muslims, we know that the first step to both physical and spiritual wellbeing is through upholding Allah’s (SWT) command to consume Halal. As more people question the source and production of what they eat, taking greater care to choose better food for their bodies, shouldn’t Muslims be at the forefront of this movement?

‘O you who believe, eat of the good things We have provided to you and be grateful to Allah, if it is He whom you worship.’ (Qur’an 2:172)

The Holy Qur’an gives us clear guidelines about what we can and cannot consume. They are a way for us to maintain our spiritual connection to Allah (SWT). And just as we purify our bodies before prayer, purifying what we put in our bodies is also a way to ensure our prayers and Du’as are answered.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “O S’ad purify your food [and as a result] you will become one who’s supplications are accepted. I swear by He in whose hands the soul of Muhammad lies, verily a servant [of Allah] tosses a Haram morsel in his stomach [due to which] no deed is accepted from him for 40 days.” (Tabarani)

HMC Seminars teach about:

  • Our religious obligation as Muslims to seek out and consume Halal
  • The Islamic jurisprudence on Halal and haram.
  • The effects of haram food on our physical and spiritual health – even affecting the acceptance of our Duas.
  • The reality of food fraud as well as how meat is produced and processed in the UK.
  • The work we do at HMC.
  • Ways we can seek out and source food that is genuinely Halal.
  • Ways we can be active in advocating about maintaining genuine Halal standards.

Supporting HMC Education Programmes is Sadaqah Jariyah.

Teaching knowledge and providing a beneficial education is a form of Sadaqah Jariyah. And what education is more vital than teaching young people about the tenets of their faith?

The Muslim community today is largely passive about their food choices. Without education, the next generation of Muslims won’t have a sound understanding of their religious obligation to consume Halal.

HMC works tirelessly to engage people in the conversations about Halal and encourage learning. Through advocacy, we’re empowering UK Muslims to make active choices about the food they consume. But to carry on this work, we rely on your support.
